We have been growing our own turf for many many moons now, turf is a tough product to produce with many difficulties involved in growing and maintaining a product with ever increasing expectation levels from the end user, a turf mans first and last job of each day is to check the weather forecast and then double check and then just to be sure check again ! then there is the internet era introduced delivery expectations that are hard to satisfy with a product that is still growing in a field when the customer orders it, and the biggest challenge of all GLOBAL WARMING , turf growing in winter months when it is hard to mow etc etc having said all of that we would not swap our job for the world , growing turf and blending topsoil is a job that in the end is really rewarding when you put a great product in peoples hands, on summer days being in a turf field with the smell of fresh grass blowing around and the occasional rabbit skipping past you can be a truly great feeling, and we love our customers who are usually equally as enthusiastic about the outdoors and gardening as we are, there is a lot to be said for keeping a neat and tidy garden and it is often said that the state of a persons garden can tell you a lot about them.
Topsoil
We started selling soil initially simply to ensure we got the turf sale as consumer habits moved towards a 1 stop shop around 25 years ago turf and soil became one job like fish and chips. The late 1990s saw the emergence of the home grow era , gardening shows where everywhere and people started to dip there toes into growing fruit and veggies from home , the home grow market continues to grow each year with many people telling us they have had a technology overload and want a simple relaxing hobby to get themselves out of the house for a few hours a week and also help educate there children about healthy eating.
Why buy our product ?
We love dropping our topsoil off at peoples house , it is just a really really good product and most people are amazed at how jet black the soil is when it arrives, I know that is bragging but it just really is a good product ! we could sell cheaper recycled screened soils as there is a market for the product at the cheap end of the job but we prefer not too, it costs us sales not catering for the infill ( cheap soil ) market but quite simply how could we sell and promote these contaminated second grade soils and at the same time claim to be passionate about quality and keen gardeners.
